The TSG has equipped its top attacker with a new contract. Nicole Billa is now bound to Hoffenheim until summer 2024. The club from Kraichgau reported this on Friday. Billa, who was awarded the footballer of the year in Germany and Austria in 2021, had secured the year goalkeeper cannon in the Bundesliga last season and has a total of 87 goals for TSG in a total of 164 competitive games.

In the summer of 2021, the 26-year-old Austrian was awarded the footballer of the year in Germany, and in autumn she and her teammates took part in the Champions League for the first time before the crowning glory of the year in the Alpine Republic followed in winter.

“The figurehead for the entire club”

“The fact that an absolute exceptional player like Nicole has decided to extend her contract here in Hoffenheim for another year by 2024 speaks for the strong development of the association to one of the top addresses in European women’s football,” said Ralf Zwanziger, department head Women’s football at TSG. The contract signature also testifies to the Billa’s connection to the association and region. “She has steadily developed here in the past seven years and has matured into a leading player who is not only very important for the team on the pitch, but also takes great responsibility next to the square.” Billa is a “figurehead for the entire club,” said Zwanziger.

Billa came from St. Pölten for the 2015/16 season and quickly made a call as a feared goal scorer. The native Kufsteiner said about her contract extension: “I am just doing very well here, I feel very comfortable in the club and also in the region and I really appreciate that.” After an “enormous development”, the association did not want to rest on the success, but continue to invest “to be able to take the next steps,” said Billa.

Before the season finale on Sunday against SC Sand, TSG finished fifth in the Bundesliga – with three points behind in third place with only little chances of participating in the Champions League in the coming season.
